Historical Renovation |
This addition, extending the second-story bathroom over the original exterior wall to accomodate a double tub and separate shower, was the winner of the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association award in 2005. The project included custom stained windows to match the mahogany cabinets, counter and tub tops each cut from a single piece of marble, a custom frameless shower door, heated marble tile flooring, and other architectural details designed to match the rest of the house. The basement, which had less than six feet of headroom, was excavated to install a new entertainment room / workout space. In the 500 feet gained, stained concrete heated floors were added along with a chill room / closet for wine. Though below ground level, an amazing amount of light pours in from the clerestory windows installed on three walls. |
